When he is not writing fiction and memoir, Charlie teaches academic and business English, with specialisms including report-writing, critical analysis and correspondence. 

Since 2022 he has taught academic writing at De Montfort University as a Fellow of the Royal Literary Fund.  

Charlie Hill - Teaching

Charlie also has a wide variety of experience teaching creative writing. In 2022 he delivered a Masterclass in Experimental Writing for the Arvon Foundation, and he has since contributed to the Arvon Friends Library.  He has hosted workshops on Putting Poetry into your Prose, Memoir Writing, and Writing Satire for The Birmingham Literature Festival, Writing West Midlands and Milton Keynes LitFest. He has taught on the short story scene as a Visiting Lecturer at universities including Birmingham and Nottingham. He has also been a regular reader for The Literary Consultancy.

He is particularly interested in the development of your voice, the structure of your work, and the effectiveness and poetry of your sentences.
